The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
(HIPAA) Privacy Rule describes privacy standards that protect your
medical and health information. It identifies your rights to access
and control your health information. It outlines how various health
providers may use and disclose your protected health information
to carry out treatment, payment or health care operations and for
other purposes that are permitted or required by law. Effective
April 14, 2003, all health care facilities and physicians will be
required to comply with the new federal privacy rules concerning
how your health information is shared, stored and utilized. The
Glen Ridge Surgicenter considers protecting your privacy an important
part of caring for you. If you have any questions regarding these
privacy policies, you may contact our Privacy Contact, Carey P.
